Who isn’t suited for laser hair removal?

Laser hair removal may not be suitable for everyone. If you have white, blonde or red hair, the laser may not work effectively because it needs pigment in the hair to target it.

We can safely treat Fitzpatrick skin types 1–4. You can view the to get an idea of where your skin type falls. We’ll also assess your skin and hair during your consultation to make sure treatment is suitable for you.

We cannot laser over tattoos, as the laser can affect the tattoo pigment and may cause skin damage. Tattooed areas will simply be avoided during treatment.

Skin Type Guide

The Six Skin Types

We only treat skin types I–IV, boxed below.

Type I

Pale white skin

Extremely sensitive skin — always burns easily and never tans.

Type II

Fair skin

Very sensitive skin — usually burns and tans with difficulty.

Type III

Medium / olive skin

Sometimes burns and gradually tans to light brown.

Type IV

Olive / moderate brown skin

Rarely burns and tans with ease.

Type V

Dark brown skin

Resistant skin — very rarely burns and tans very easily.

Type VI

Deeply pigmented dark brown / black skin

Very resistant skin — never burns, deeply pigmented, tans very easily.
